This image was my entry into the "Natives of the Lifeless Forest Challenge"
Back story- A new Queen of the lifeless forest has staked her claim to
the throne. Ambitious about increasing the scope of her domain she
orders a pilgrimage through secret portals hidden in the darkest depths
of the vast expanses of her territory. Her journey will take her far
away from the familiar landscape of destruction that she has always
known as her home. She intends to travel to the very edge of her
kingdom where she will oversee the front lines of her war on the living
forest. Her race thrives in a land filled with sulfurous vents invoked
by dark magic that fill the air with noxious fumes no other life forms
can tolerate.
