As usual, below there is a little explanation about it.
We liked mythology's legends, from any culture, as well as the different folklores we can find on them. We also liked the mythological monsters, specially from the classic greek and roman's mythologies.
The Medusa is a monster that is showed as a very ugly and repulsive image, see some images that we took as references on our researches:

Despite the differences in some versions about her origin, see the link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medusa, we prefer the version where Medusa was originally a beautiful woman.
We think that any female character should be beautiful, even the mythological or folkloric female monsters.
For our Medusa's version, we thought about a beautiful, lethal, powerful, imposing, very feminine and also sexy.
