I had a job once in Tulsa, Oklahoma where I had to commute from Okmulgee, a town about 45 minutes south. While driving, there were a few things I saw and this is a combination of them.
The storm clouds were most memorable and are what inspired me to make this painting.
The tree is a lonely tree in a pasture, worn and broken by time and the sometimes harsh Oklahoma weather.
The meteors are easy to catch a glimpse of if you drive enough at night. Looking toward the horizon like you do while driving a car is one of the best ways to spot meteors, though I don't recommend active searching while driving. Eyes on the road!
The little light hanging from the branch is a mystery to me. I think it is just a random idea which popped into my head while I was painting. It's a kind of parasite which steals its energy from the tree and glows at night. I don't know much more about it.
