This is part of a settlement amid the carved-out remnants of the previous civilization's colossal, planet-wide resource exploitation.  For thousands of years there simply aren't enough people for this gigantic sheltered space to be anything more useful than a temporary resting point along a caravan route.

    I love the sense of scale in this.  Kinda reminds me of some Jean Leon Gerome works.  Very nice.

    oh, and the variation in colors and the colors in the shadows make this image very appealing!
