Here's some more Halo work Ive had the pleasure of working on for Bungie.

I figure its pretty safe to post this low res versions since its been on the internet for months.

This particular piece was for a christmas charity auction for Child's Play which is just a kick-ass charity founded by Penny Arcade, you can find out all about it here: http://www.childsplaycharity.org

You can also check out the actual charity event photos here if you like here: http://gameinformer.com/blogs/members/b/dtjaaaamjslm_blog/archive/2009/12/09/the-2009-child-s-play-charity-dinner-auction.aspx

This one was a beast for several reasons and it didnt have to be, but I made it hard on myself because I couldnt get my ego out of the way and as a result I delivered something that could have been better. Hopefully you guys can learn from my folly.
As I mentioned I hate using paintovers for a lot of reasons and decided that id not use any on this, so I started with the tank in the back and finished it moving toward camera.
That was a big mistake and I wasted valuable time trying to get the tank right at that difficult angle and without a lot of the visual hallmarks that give it its distinguished profile and silhouette.
I should have been smart and used a paintover but I chose the asshole "ooOOhhh look at me" route.

Dont do that, be smart and professional. Client 1st, Ego 2nd.

I decided to smarten up and use a paintover for the gun, but as a result of wasting so much time the additional soldiers in the background suffered and came out sloppier than I would have liked.

Hopefully my blabbering with give some of you something useful to take with you.

I hope you enjoy it guys and gals, take care of yourselves!

PS - Youll have to reduce your browsers to about 75-50% to see several of these.

I have a question for you Brad:
Did you paint this picture based on a sketch?
because the lighting and colors are so realistic and so correct.,
I've seen some artists paint theirs by playing with their brushes and textures (like oil painters) without any sketches to get a photo-realistic concept.
I've tried that and it wasn't so bad but I'm not sure about that
