Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled FX Animator to work on a team developing a next-generation massively multiplayer online game. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with 3D packages, custom FX and particle systems to create a wide range of FX (fire, smoke, explosions, etc.) as well as a general understanding of technical animation. A solid grasp of the principles of movement, anticipation, dynamics, follow-through, squash and stretch, lighting and other facets of both 2D and 3D animation is essential. The FX animator must have skill in creating textures and geometry needed for stylized FX. The FX Animator should be well-versed in FX related tools --Photoshop, After Effects, Maya, etc. The ideal candidate works well in an environment of peers who are passionate about making great games.

Requirements

• Experience with animating brilliant, eye catching FX using Photoshop and Maya (or equivalent programs)
• General skill and a technical understanding of animating a wide range of organic and mechanical subject matter
• Technical understanding of FX pipelines
• Self-driven, good communicator and a great team-player
• A passion for games
• Skill in one or more of the related art tasks - illustration, modeling, texturing, character animation, rigging, or technical art
• Able to work full-time in the Irvine area

Pluses

• 3+ years experience animating spell and FX for computer and/or videogames
• Scripting experience in Lua, Python, etc
• Experience creating and using real-time shaders
• Have shipped AAA PC or console titles as an FX Artist or Animator
• Outstanding 2D animation skills
• A passion for developing online games
